Expert DWV Upgrade in Makiki
Built in 1971, the 40-unit Makiki Royal was facing increasingly frequent and costly leaks from its original cast iron drain, waste, and vent (DWV) system.
Recognizing the need for a comprehensive solution, the Board of Directors selected Native Technologies for our proven record of delivering complex projects with clear planning, disciplined management, and reliable results.
Following an extensive scoping and competitive bidding process, Notkin Hawaii joined the team as project engineer. Native Technologies’ design management team collaborated with Notkin to finalize construction documents and submit an application for building permit through the Honolulu Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP).
Hawaii Plumbing Group was selected as the contractor and began construction on schedule utilizing DPP’s Special Assignment Inspection (SAI) process.
The project presented numerous challenges, including non-code-compliant conditions and the discovery of a fully encased reduced pressure backflow preventer set in thick concrete. Through proactive problem-solving and daily on-site coordination, Native Technologies guided the team to successful completion.
The project was delivered on budget, providing the Association confidence and long-term value. At Native Technologies, we manage every detail and overcome obstacles as they arise—giving your project the best chance for success.
